JARFLYS: Anonymous

I got turned onto this group last night, and I’m a new fan. I even ordered the CD, along with an extra copy to legally pass along to a friend. As with Magnatune, this publisher passes on most of the purchase price on to the artists

Also notice that you can listen to all the music, and from the Jarfly’s website even download many of the songs for free. So support the effort, listen to the music and if you like it support the artist and buy the CD.

This is particularly refreshing after my experience with the new Foo Fighters album. Its a pretty good album, but has some type of copy protection on it, which basically means you can’t listen to it on your iPod. And seeing as most of my music listening is iPod-enabled these days that is a big drag. I think I can find a way around this limitation, but if I own the CD why should I be forced to go through this hassle (and violate the DMCA by end-running the copy protection, even if its for my personal use.) When will the record companies learn that their efforts to thwart piracy only succeed in chasing their real customers away. Take my advice and listen to the Jarflys instead.
