New Logo
I’ve been inspired to do a total re-design of this web log. Part of the inspiration came from my two days at the An Event Apart event. Part is just that I’ve been getting tired of the design. And I’ve also wanted to dig into WordPress and really understand how to make it bend to do my page-display-bidding. I’ll be bringing out bits over the next couple of weeks.
The first task is to design a Rodeworks logo. I like text-based logos — something identifiable, with a nice look, but that doesn’t require a translation glossary to figure out what it means. For a web site I find horizontally orientated logos also work best. I don’t like to have a lot of white space at the top of the web page. The meat of the site needs to be up where it can catch the visitor’s eye without scrolling.
I’ve run through a long list of mock-ups and here is my current favorite:
![]()
I still need to play with sizing of it and colorize it, so more tinkering will be in store. Notice that I’ve already re-done my favicon to reflect the new look.
