Don’t upgrade stuff on Friday afternoon
Its Friday afternoon and I can’t get the new Scribefire firefox extension to work with my blog. Actually its been an issue for the last week or so, since it was upgraded from Perfomancing. So I decide that it must be an issue with a bad file in WordPress.
So I go to the Wordpress site and see that a new version has been released. So what the heck, I’ll upgrade it, fix the security issue and it will probably fix the Scribefire issue. I follow the Wordpress instructions, delete a bunch of stuff, upload the new files, and realize I’ve deleted the configuration file. And my ISP has some weird settings that i can’t figure out and now nothing works at all. Its Friday — why did I start this?
Several hours later, after a good dinner and some mental rest I figure it out. I use the ISP’s one-click installation for a new WordPress blog, copy the config file, edit it to link to my real WordPress database, upload it, it works (Yeah!) and then delete the new one I created. Some fun, huh?
But the good news is that after all of this Scribefire now works. So I guess it was worth it (ain’t technology fun!)
