I came across this terrific blog site this morning, which, as its title suggests, has all sorts of useful Wordpress stuff. I came into this through a search on wordpress plugins and found a to-do list plugin that they’ve written that looks promising. I’ve been thinking of some implementing some type of project management tool — but everytime I look at them I get scared off by their complexity. A departmental blog with a series of to-do lists might allow the easy tracking I’m looking for, without the overhead.
There was also a post on a good looking contact form plugin that I’ll experiment with on this blog, and probably implement on the Summer Cabaret web site. I’m also considering taking on the project of writing a book, something along the lines of “Web 2.0 case studies.” My idea is to start writing up the interactive web projects I’ve been working on, such as the Summer Cabaret site or the Audio Archive Drupal site, with tips, tricks, references, challenges and lessons learned. I think I’ve easily got a couple of chapters waiting to be written. And maybe I can get a couple of other contributors to write-up their work too (anyone interested?). Of course the writing process would be totally open, and posted online as it evolves, and it looks like WordPress might be the platform for that too!

I’ve been energized by our overlapping interests recently. I’d be up for throwing in some thoughts on putting together our Joomla site, using Skype to record oral histories or something about getting a couple of upcoming summer classes ready for projects where students will create podcasts.
I’ve also put together a WordPress site to do our internal project tracking. It’s not the bee’s knees, but it’s been a good exercise for us.
