Contribute and WordPress
I love WordPress, which I’ve said many times before in my posts on this blog. But I do find the administritative interface a little lacking, especially when I consider its use by non-technical types. I just find the posting process a little clunky. So it was with great interest that I received the news that the new version of Adobe’s Contribute would work at a blog front-end.
This blog post is being made using Contribute. And so far it looks pretty good. It allows me to create the blog post on a page that looks like the final page, displaying the sidebar, header and other page elements. It let me drag and drop an image, as well as adjust the image properties (alignment, padding) from a drop down menu. Adding links is easy too, with the option to browse to the page and edit attributes such as the link target.
Here’s a screenshot:

You probably can’t see much, as the program resized the image based upon some configuration file, which a helpful dialog box told me I could change. Not bad — the program will help keep someone from breaking the design with an overly large image. It also saves them from needing to resize it themselves, which can also be a challenge.
So my initial impression is that this is pretty good. I’ll see if it all blows up once I actually publish the post. But if you’re reading this and all looks OK then you’ll know it works!
