Related Posts listing
As the number of posts in this blog grow (over 500 since December 2004!) I’ve struggled with how best to make the site content accessible. My personal style is a little eclectic, with posts appearing when the mood strikes, written about what interests me at that moment. So the standard monthly archive sidebar element does not seem very helpful.
But a couple of months ago I came across a related posts plug-in. It uses a search string to suggest related posts based on the content of the current post. I’ve currently got it displaying on the single post page, but am considering including it on the main page listings as well. The web site linked from the plug-in isn’t working, but it looks like some further work is underway. With more features, such as related posts in the RSS feed, on the way.
Yet Another Related Posts Plugin (YARPP) gives you a list of posts and/or pages related to the current entry, introducing the reader to other relevant content on your site. YARPP is based on the work of Peter Bowyer, Alexander Malov, and Mike Lu.
When at the library I find I often find a great book on the shelf just down from the book I originally went looking for — hopefully this plug-in will provide a similar service here.
