At anevent apart

I am up in Boston at the 2008 An Event Apart conference. This is my third one. And after the other two, in each case, while I greatly enjoyed the event, I wasn’t sure I’d go the next year. But then I keep coming back. And I’m happy to be here again. Why?

Block Cellphone spam

Great advice — I just set it up for my Verizon account — AT&T offers something similar. Sprint and T-Mobile offer some blocking features as well. How nice of David Pogue and the NYT to make sure we all know this!

Murphy’s Law

My younger son was working on a video project for class this week. Of course he’d left it all to the very last minute (much to his father’s annoyance.). He had his clips loaded into Premiere and Ileft him assembling things while I ran out with the other son on a quick errand. On arriving home all was not well. He’d lost some clips, went back to recapture them and the tape broke. His project was due in 11 hours and in shambles. And he asked why this had all happened to him.

Who has time for Social Media

I say AMEN to this blog post at ReadWriteWeb. I barely have time to keep up with the live social contacts in my life, let alone manage a virtual life! Sure I’ve got a FaceBook account, but I keep it mostly to keep up with the technology (and to prove to my kids that I’m ‘with it’!) I rarely ever check it except when I get the occasional friend request. I’m quite happy at the moment as a mostly passive consumer of RSS feeds and podcasts.
