One of my clients wants to run a poll. So I’m testing out this Polling Plugin from:
www.lesterchan.net/portfolio/programming.php
I found a lot of plugins that would let people vote on a specific post, but not too many with this type of polling functionality. From what I’ve seen so far its very nicely done, easy to set up, now I just need to get some results!

I really like Garrett’s method of handling images in his page redesign. And he is right about Tufte’s work as a great source of inspiration. The books are pretty cool, very rich in ideas, and if you have a chance to attend one of his seminars, do it! You won’t regret it.

Many of these ideas, of course, wouldn’t really work out, but I’m sure there are some good ones in there — and you really don’t know which is which unless you let ‘em run a little. The main problem is that the idea makers never move further because its “not in their area,” they don’t have the right resources, their boss world never support, it’ll never get funding, etc. I know here at Yale we’ve got a lot of smart, creative people — let’s rip the lid off for a day and see what they can come up with! Here’s a good one from IT Conversations — Caterina Fake on the early days of Flickr. If you haven’t figured out from other posts in this blog, I’m a huge Flickr fan, and have been for a long time (first posting January 2005). Their early success comes down to a lucky break with a bunch of creative people who didn’t really know what they were doing, with no one to tell them they couldn’t do it — listen to this quote:

I agree with the first point in this point — the web is disjointed — although I don’t know that this is its nature. But if web 3.0 means that IT just works (whatever IT is) then bring it on. Oh, and I love the formulas…
