The new Horizon Report is out, and mobile technologies are at the top of the ‘technologies to watch’ list. Sure desktops/laptops still have their place, and will continue for years to come. But for communication/collaboration technologies, where most of the real innovation is happening these days, mobile is the platform of choice. Even now a student with an iPhone has little need to lug a laptop around with them — and in a couple of years that will become a given.
Another cool feature of the Horizon site is it is running in a CommentPress/WordPress site. CommentPress allows group commenting on text. I haven’t made any comments yet, but it looks like anyone can. I expect they are moderated. CommentPress is a really cool application AND they have a robust new version just about to launch. In fact CommentPress 2.0 is going to get its public premier at WordCamp ED: Northeast this coming Monday (2/2/09). Look for more information coming real soon. And put in your 2 cents on the Horizon report.
