I just finished reading Chip Heath and Dan Heath’s new book Switch: How to Change Things When Change is Hard. I highly recommend the book. It was written in an enjoyable and engaging way, while also well presented with the points well argued. Examples from real business situations nicely compliment the explanations. And it provides a very practical framework to apply when working on any change issue. A couple of elements of this:

The core idea is that there are two sides to the way human beings think about any issue. There’s the rational, analytical, problem-solving side of our brains, which may think, “I need to eat less.” But there’s an emotional side that’s addicted to impulse or comfortable routines, and that side wants a cookie.
“Change is hard.” “People hate change.” Those were two of the most common quotes we heard when we began to study change.
