Sure, you don’t get the ambiance of walking across the olde Yale campus on your way to class, but otherwise this is a very nicely done package of open courses. I poked through the PHIL 176: Death class. The video works well, starting with Professor Kagan perched on top of a desk. There is a very complete set of video, audio and other course materials available, all published under a creative commons license.
I think all non-profit educational institutions have a responsibility to the general public to provide access to educational resources — after all we all support them through allowing their exempt status from income, property and sales taxes. Its heartening to see Yale start to meet this obligation in such a nice package!
Open Yale Courses
Open Yale Courses provides free and open access to seven introductory courses taught by distinguished teachers and scholars at Yale University. The aim of the project is to expand access to educational materials for all who wish to learn.
