LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and now Yammer? How many Adobe Air desktop clients can I have running at once? TweetDeck does Twitter and Facebook, but not Yammer (yet). How many live streams should I keep up with? Once you start on a social network can you stop? Why can’t everyone just agree on one for personal and one for business use?
What is a favicon? No not something from the Transformers universe! According to Wikipedia “A favicon (short for favorites icon), also known as a website icon, shortcut icon, url icon, or bookmark icon is a 16×16, 32×32 or 64×64 pixel square icon associated with a particular website or webpage” – wikipedia. But it is also fun — and easy to create utilizing Photoshop or other graphics programs. All the best-dressed web sites have one. In helping someone get up and started with the ICO format I came across this really helpful free photoshop plug-in. If you are favicon-challenged give it a try.
Need to distribute a document? Whether you are emailing it, adding it to a course site, or putting it on a web page, you should be using the Adobe Acrobat PDF (portable document format) file type. Adobe gives their version of the viewer program for free, but charges for the full, professional version of Adobe Acrobat which allows the conversion of a document to the PDF format. This professional version has a lot of powerful features, but if all you want to do is convert Word, Excel and other documents to the PDF format, the purchase cost is a little much. One of these free alternatives may be just what you need:

To meet a client’s needs I decided to give the Adobe Acrobat forms features a try. With just a little bit of work you can build an interactive form which can be distributed to many users via email/website/etc. And when the responses come back they all get collected into one master document. It is very nice when technology works so well.
Is there a Rich Internet Application killer app? This observation that successful new technologies always have must-have application is a good one. Would the Wii be quite as successful without Wii Fit? I have seen a number of questions on Twitter for an OpenSolaris version of Adobe Air. And why? Because people want to be able to run the Adobe Air desktop app TweetDeck. The ability to run web applications in a manner that makes them feel more like a desktop app — sounds like a killer app. So whichever RIA can meet that need, will probably have its killer app.
