• IT Training Part 2

    In part 1 of this post I started musing on what type of training is appropriate for ‘normal’ people — otherwise known as non-technical users. In my experience IT-types enjoy learning about technical subjects, just for the sake of learning. And with their backgrounds they can filter through the information and pull out the nuggets that they can use. I think the normal people really just want to have the nuggets delivered to them, so they can get in and out of training as quickly as possible.

  • Getting Organized

    Boy, I think I’m getting to the end of a very busy stretch.  At home both boys are heavily into the soccer season — its been fun, but when it winds down next weekend I’m appreciate the break.  I’ve also been finishing up my final project for the completion of my Instructional Design masters program.  The project is one I’ve blogged about here before, an audio archive site created with Drupal.  Unfortunately things have been so busy at YSD that I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to actually work on implementing this project.  I’ve got a rough, proof-of-concept site going, but nothing really to show yet.

  • PLE and iTunes

    I’ve started my last semester at Capella University, working towards an M.E. in Instructional Design.  The last activity is something they call an integrative project, and I think I’m going to do something on Personal Learning Environments (PLE).  I still need to boil down all my thoughts on this into something that will make a coherent project, but it will be something in this area.  I hope this will mesh well with the Drupal-based student system I’m starting to work on now, with the plan to implement a test for fall 06.
