SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is one of the black arts of the internet. There are some helpful books. Search Engine Optimization from Kristopher Jones is a good place to start. But most of it falls to common sense. Just like weight loss, there are really no quick solutions. In the WordPress world you can take care on a couple of things:
<title><?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?> <?php if ( is_single() ) { ?> » Blog Archive <?php } ?> <?php wp_title(); ?></title>
<META NAME=”Description” CONTENT=”<?php the_excerpt() ?>”>
And careful use of keyworks. Make sure that the words people will search on are regularly included in your content. The plugin Headspace2 is also suggested as helpful in the article referenced below. I’m satisfied hardcoding the settings and having them generate automatically. But if you want some more granular control, this might be just the ticket.
Simple SEO: Wordpress – Website Magazine – Website Magazine
Properly configured, Wordpress can be an extremely effective way of designing, maintaining and managing your site. Not only that, but sites using Wordpress tend to rank well organically within the top search engines, once properly configured. However, neglecting some critical configurations can cause pages and posts that make up your site to not even be indexed by the major search engines.
