An especially interesting aspect is that WordPress is presenting itself (to this crowd) as a possible Learning Management System. This gets an appreciative laugh from everyone in the audience “All distance e-learning / online course systems are terrible, and BB is especially terrible”.
Yianni Yessios and I had a blast talking with folks about the educational possibilities of WordPress at WordCamp Ed Northeast up in Worcester a couple of weeks ago. I was particularly impressed with the extention presentations.

After the first successful WordCampED for educators was held in Washington, DC, in November, there are now two more WordCampED events scheduled. The next education WordCamp is WordCamp Higher Ed North East in Worcester, Massachusetts, on February 2, 2009, followed by WordCamp Education Vancouver 2009 in Vancouver, BC, for February 19, 2009, on the UBC Main Campus in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre.
More WordCampED events are in the works at educational institutions around North America, and hopefully abroad, bringing educators together with WordPress experts to explore the various methods teachers and educational facilities can use WordPress.
