There are a million ways to make WordPress do cool things, and template hacks are some of the easiest to implement. Here is a listing of 10 loop hacks from Smashing Magazine. I put number 5 into use in the sidebar on Rodeworks to show upcoming posts. I had to tweak the code a little bit, setting it to only show the 3 post titles coming up the soonest – query_posts(‘showposts=3&post_status=future&orderby=date&order=ASC’)

Thanks to the “schedule post” option, our favorite blogging platform allows us to write a post and schedule it to be published later. To make sure your readers come back to your blog or subscribe to your RSS feed, listing your upcoming posts is a good idea.
