It is pretty interesting to see how far some plug-in take WordPress away from its simple blogging roots. Simple:Press offers a full featured forum application that runs in WordPress. In some ways it might seem odd to bend WordPress this far — why not just use a dedicated forum tool. But then again, if you know how to administer WordPress why not use a system you know and trust? Examples like this really just show how robust a framework WordPress can be.

It is fully customizable and comes with a number of skins and sets of icons to get your started. Current users have shown it to be fully scalable whether your site membership numbers the tens or the thousands.
